Hi, I’m Steph. What a year 2020 is proving to be!
After hanging up my wings for a very well known airline in August, I’ve thrown myself into the world of learning about better health and enjoying the merits too!
Last year was pivotal for me. I was overweight, skin issues, energy and sleep issues and I felt thoroughly fed up with myself. Throw in the mix of the menopause and you have a perfect storm. I didn’t recognise myself and I knew something had to change.
I’d done the whole slimming club thing in the past which did work when I was younger but as the years slipped past gradually the bad habits crept back in and I found it harder and harder to shift the excess weight.
The internet is awash of all the do’s and don’ts of eating and exercising but I stumbled upon a Facebook Ad serialising gut health over 8 days.
I signed up and became fascinated as a whole host of experts explained so many reasons as to how our gut, (our microbiome) controls so much of what is going on with our bodies and our brains and so much is down to how we feed ourselves and ultimately our gut flora. I found myself reading and researching and, in May this year, I signed up to study health coaching with the College of Naturopathic Medicine. When the coronavirus hit hard in March this year, I knew that there would be a shift change in my career. I’d always loved being crew for the most part, but I realised actually with time off that flying for a living actually didn’t love me. The super early rises, the night flights, the time changes, eating round the clock as you try to battle a minus 8 hour time difference really creates havoc in our bodies. I had always anticipated studying and flying but Covid 19 handed me a gift of realising I could not only help myself but help lots of other people too.
I’m excited to share my findings armed with the knowledge and the understanding of eating real whole foods, moving, and reducing stress. I empathise with anyone who’s at a last resort but does nothing because they are disillusioned with all the past efforts.
